Join the San Marco Preservation Society and the San Marco Bookstore for the monthly Story Time in the Square, taking place on the first Saturday of each month from 10-11 A.M. in Balis Park.
Kids of all ages are welcome, but stories will be geared towards our littles. Feel free to bring a chair or blanket, but don’t forget your imagination at home! Seating will be first come, first served, and the event will be held in the gazebo area, rain or shine (major weather systems excluded).

Hot Spot Power Yoga has partnered with the San Marco Preservation Society to offer FREE yoga to our amazing community!
Our first class will be Saturday, September 23rd at 9am in Balis Park. The class will be all-levels outdoors in the park. Plan to bring a yoga mat, water and anything else you need for a workout!
This will be an inspiring practice for new yoga practitioners and experienced yogis. Come enjoy the beauty of our neighborhood!
This class is completely free thanks to the generosity of the SMPS.

Beer & Brats 5K

Join 1st Place Sports for an Oktoberfest evening in the San Marco Square! Start with a festive 5K and one mile run/walk though scenic San Marco, then enjoy free beer and brats.
5K starts at 5 PMOne mile starts at 6 PM
This event will feature interactive games for participants to enjoy starting at 3:30p, throughout and after the race. Games will include axe throwing, basketball shoot, football pass and kick, and more traditional Oktoberfest games. Be sure to wear your favorite Tracht (Tra-oct) outfit. Women, dress up in a traditional dirndl (Deern-dul) (dress) and men, sport your lederhosen (Lay-der-hozen) shorts. All entrants will receive a race shirt, and an official custom designed beer mug and a medal when you finish. Each participant is entitled to free beer and a bratwurst. Local brewery Tepeyolot Cerveceria will be present to serve up the brew and Oom-Pah-pah music will be featured.

This is the 26th Art Festival in San Marco. Around 30 artists will pitch their tents in Balis Park for this two-day free Art Festival in the middle of historic San Marco Square. For this event traffic is not blocked off around San Marco Square and free parking is plentiful so our patrons can come and go freely. The art for this festival is carefully selected and includes paintings, sculpture, woodwork, glasswork, and hand-made jewelry by local and regional Florida artists.

“Music in the Air” Choral Concert

Enjoy an evening of beautiful music performed by some of the most talented singers in the River City! RCC is a community choir comprised entirely of volunteers. We are not only dedicated to artistic singing, we are also equally committed to helping raise funds for local charities. This season we are proud to support Florida Senior Enrichment Center.

Have you been looking for a jumpstart to your fitness routine this Summer? Sometimes you just need a little nudge to get going. Join Bitty and Beau's and Linton McClain of Superior Body Sculpting as we kick off our monthly "Fitness in the Park" series to get our communities moving again. No experience required. Everyone is welcome. Exercises will be fun and engaging for all ages and fitness levels. Put this event on your calendar and we look forward to you joining our movement for a healthier Jacksonville.

Story Time in the Square
Host: SMPS and San Marco Bookstore
Join the San Marco Preservation Society and the San Marco Bookstore for the monthly Story Time in the Square, taking place on the first Saturday of each month from 10-11 A.M. in Balis Park.
Kids of all ages are welcome, but stories will be geared towards our littles. Feel free to bring a chair or blanket, but don’t forget your imagination at home! Seating will be first come, first served, and the event will be held in the gazebo area, rain or shine (major weather systems excluded).

Yoga in the Park with the San Marco Preservation Society

Hot Spot Power Yoga has partnered with the San Marco Preservation Society to offer FREE yoga to our amazing community!
Our first class will be Saturday, September 23rd at 9am in Balis Park. The class will be all-levels outdoors in the park. Plan to bring a yoga mat, water and anything else you need for a workout!
This will be an inspiring practice for new yoga practitioners and experienced yogis. Come enjoy the beauty of our neighborhood!

Summer Solstice - 108 Sun Salutations

Join us in honoring the Summer Solstice with a moving meditation of 108 Sun Salutations — a powerful and traditional way to mark the longest day of the year. The number 108 holds deep spiritual significance in many traditions and symbolizes unity, wholeness, and the rhythm of the universe.
You’ll be gently guided through soft Sun Salutation A’s, with optional counters provided to help track your flow. Don’t worry — you don’t have to complete all 108! Listen to your body, rest when needed, and simply move with intention.
We'll flow at our own pace to uplifting, summer-inspired music, embracing the warmth of the season and the energy of the sun. We’ll close with a seasonal intention-setting practice to leave you feeling grounded, refreshed, and fully aligned with this vibrant time of year.
Open to all levels. Come as you are, move how you feel, and celebrate the light within and around you.
